FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAY SAFETY AND MOTOR VEHICLES

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, headquartered in Neil Kirkman Building in Tallahassee, handles the issuing of driver licenses and handles the registration and titling of automobiles, boats and mobile homes. They also provide assistance in case of a crash or vehicle breakdowns along South Florida and Florida’s highways. It provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education and enforcement. They have department members all around the state of Florida that are dedicated to accomplishing the agency’s mission. They are also providing a number of on-line services.

Provide for the overall safety on Florida's highways by reducing the number of traffic crashes resulting in death, injury, and property damage.

Aggressively attempt to reduce criminal activities occurring on Florida's highways through detection, prevention, and enforcement of criminal laws relating to highway violence, transportation of illegal drugs/contraband, auto theft, driver license fraud, and emissions fraud.

Thoroughly investigate crashes resulting in deaths, injuries and property damage with an emphasis on aggressive occupant restraint compliance, DUI prevention, and educational enforcement programs.

Respond to all calls for service in a timely manner.

Operate proactively by being prepared to respond to all natural and man-made disasters.

Lead by example promoting moral, ethical, and professional standards.
